A New Adventure in New Hampshire

Spring is a time of renewal, and with that comes new endeavors, projects, and chapters. I’m thrilled that this spring opened the double doors to a significant new chapter. We now proudly own Sundeck Cottages on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. So, how did this investment come about, you may be asking?

My husband is from New Hampshire. His grandparents had been taking him to Sundeck since he was six years old. It became his happy place. However, he eventually moved to California and temporarily put his visits to Sundeck on the back burner. One year, he took me on a tour of Sundeck and was pleasantly surprised when the owners remembered him. We revived the yearly traditional visits once our kids were born. It’s been almost a decade since we started taking our children there.

A few years ago, my husband contacted the owners, who’d been at the helm for 53 years, to see if they’d like to sell the property. Their son didn’t want to take over the family business, making us a good candidate for ownership. Thankfully, our efforts paid off. Last year, the owners reached out to us and agreed to sell us the property. I think our enthusiasm and ardent love for Sundeck influenced their decision to sell to us.

Now, we’ve signed all the appropriate paperwork and sent a letter to Sundeck’s guests to introduce ourselves as the new owners. I’ve put myself to work on branding for the business since the previous owners didn’t have much on that front. So far, I’ve finished the logo and business cards, and I’m currently redesigning the website.

Acquiring Sundeck Cottages was a lovely marriage between my work and personal life. A way to bring joy to my family with a piece of my husband’s history while incorporating my skillset in branding. I’m so elated with how it all turned out. I can’t wait to offer more families the opportunity to make memories in such a serene destination.
