Making an Impact with Women’s Impact Alliance
If one organization elevates young women and provides resources to ensure their success, it’s the Women’s Impact Alliance. I jumped at the chance to help them with their branding, as their mission profoundly resonates with me. Thanks to my favorite boss from the past bringing me into the fold, I not only did the branding for WIA, but I got to collaborate with him again.
My approach veered a bit from the norm. The Women’s Impact Alliance already existed, but they wanted to change their name and brand. Since they didn’t have a professional before, they hoped to go all in on revamping their visual branding and messaging. After refining the visuals and logo, we finally nailed down the versions that made everyone happy. One of the best reactions to a final product I ever received was when the founder burst into tears after seeing the new logo.
Additionally, I whipped up a mini-style guide since the project was half pro-bono. This style guide focused on the website’s graphics, colors, and fonts. I wanted to move away from using photos since what I had was of poor quality, so I zeroed in on big circular brush strokes and evoking a painter’s feel for the site design and the virtuous circle of women concept. While I designed the homepage specifically, I only provided templates and allowed them to create the rest.
I’m proud of my work with the Women’s Impact Alliance. They deserve a fresh start and an opportunity to amplify their much-needed mission across all platforms. I love how the site turned out, and they’re doing fun things with the elements I created.
